Single: Godz Chyld, “Godz Chyld” | NYC | Killah Priest/Hell Razah beatsmith St. Peter on production

Godz Chyld is the follow up to the impressive Forever EP were he made collaboration with Killah Priest/Tragedy Khadafi. Forever EP had some fantastic production on it from Jordan River Banks; this is a good tape and grabbed my attention of the up and coming rapper. Again this time Godz Chyld teams up with another impressive Hip hop producer, St. Peter who has some interesting collections of instrumentals. The single “Godz Chyld” by Godz Chyld is a rap from start to finish and is possibly some sort of demonstration of skill, or a description of the meaning of the name Godz Chyld, an introduction to the character that is Godz Chyld. I like that idea but I would like to hear more about the person behind the name, to me, some of the lyrics lack descriptive story telling and end up sounding like a hot freestyle. The lyrical content is mixed with witty lyrics and impressive delivery but doesn’t really explain whom Godz Chyld is, and what his motivation is. The production has a dry metallic feel to it and depending on what you listen to the track on it can tend to sound quite harsh on the ear. The vocals lack warmth and sound brisk and have this metallic reverb that overloads the mix with a high end. This is quite a common mistake in hip-hop records and can be solved with a warmer mix. The talent is there, in the lyrics and the production is a development. If this were me producing this I would remix this track and leave it on the intro to the album and not release this as a single as it has no commercial appeal in terms of competing with some of the top Hip Hop artists, but could sound great as an intro amongst a great compilation. Overall I like the name Godz Chyld and I think his raps are good, and St. Peter has some great beats, a decent 3 stars.
